Enjoy the great outdoors, the excitement of dog sledding, and the thrill of running a dog sled team. We have a special touring double sled that allows guests to stand and drive, or sit and enjoy, the awesome sport of dog sledding. The tours travel through our private property and the Manistee National Forrest which allow our guests to get the full experience of dog sledding through hardwoods and pine as well as up and down hills with some beautiful views. The basic rides are about 3 miles long and you will travel with a guide behind you to coach you through the experience.
What to Expect
the day of your tour:
We have an orientation area set up, where we will review some of the basic guidelines you’ll need to know before your tour begins. At that time, you can put on addition clothing (outer layers) as we do not recommend wearing everything in your vehicle that you would wear outside, as you may get colder faster in certain conditions.
There will be photo opportunities for anyone not on the dogsled during this experience.
After orientation we will all go out to the kennel area where you will see your team being hooked up.
Then the tour begins out through scenic trails on a dog sled and the great up north!
After the tour on the dog sled there will be the opportunity to ask questions and get your picture taken with the dogs.
Here at S & L we have scenic, hilly trails and typically run bigger teams than other tour facilities.
Some Places to Stay:
Cadillac and Traverse City both have excellent restaurants and exciting winter activities. The Pure Michigan website is a great place to check for activities.
You may also want to research Evergreen Resort in Cadillac which has some great packages that include snow equipment rentals and lessons.
Other lodging options in Cadillac include the Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn, all about 15-20 minutes from us.
We are about 30 to 40 minutes south of Traverse City which makes the Wolf Lodge another super family option!
